Meet our current special needs rescues! Angels of Animals specializes in rescuing those who need care that goes above and beyond - those who are blind, disabled, neurologically challenged, or critically injured. We believe that every animal deserves a fighting chance. Please read our stories and consider making a tax-deductible donation to support our work. We believe in miracles, and hope you do, too!
This sweet baby was living on the street as an orphan after his mother was killed by a dog. A well-intentioned person was feeding him cow's milk. He became extremely sick and malnourished, and a dedicated rescuer stepped in to help. A day later, he was hospitalized, unable to maintain his blood sugar or body temp. She knew that she needed to surrender him to us so that we could do what we always do - go ALL IN to save his life.
We transferred Nieko to Oradell Animal Hospital for diagnostics and intensive care. He spent 5 days in an incubator, and with antibiotics, oxygen, and blood sugar monitoring, he was able to make it through.
As of this writing (August 21st), Nieko is six weeks old and while he is battling some tummy issues and working to catch up on his growth and development, he is thriving in his foster home. He's been "adopted" by a four-month-old kitten named Lily, and when the time comes, they will be available for adoption together.
We are not accepting adoption apps for Nieko and Lily at this time, because he still has a long way to go with growth and development, as well as medical tests to determine if he will have special care needs as an adult.
His hospital bill was over $5000, and we still have diagnostics in his future that we will need to pay for. Please, help us help Nieko with a donation if you can!
